Pre-owned (pre-owned) vehicles only.
- Vehicle should be a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) or Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) listed on the HOV Eligibility list at the time of purchase *. See a list of qualified plug-in lorries here.
- Vehicle can be bought or leased.
- Vehicle should remain registered to the candidate in California for a minimum of 20 months.
- Vehicle must be currently signed up to the applicant's PG&E residential service address.
- If approved, the refund check will be mailed to the address listed on the lorry's registration card.

  • Hydrogen Fuel Cell lorries and Compressed Natural Gas automobiles are not qualified.

    If you are not able to find your qualified vehicle model or model year on the application, you may offer your VIN through email to ev@pgerebate.com for help.

    Applicant Eligibility

    - Application should be effectively sent within 180 days of the date of EV purchase or lease.
    - Applicant must be an active PG&E residential electric client. PG&E gas-only property consumers who get electrical service from a municipality are disqualified for the rebate. The service account does not have to be in the applicant's name to apply.
    - Each PG&E customer and each property home may get just one PG&E Pre-Owned EV Rebate per eligible car
    - Each individual candidate may get a rebate for a maximum of three different eligible cars for the life of the program.
    - A home, defined as the same property service address, might not send more than three rebate applications for lorries bought or rented in a single calendar year.
    - An individual may not get a PG&E Pre-Owned EV Rebate if the private or registered co-owner has already gotten a rebate for the exact same vehicle from the SCE Pre-Owned EV Rebate, the SDG&E Pre-Owned EV Rebate, or the California Clean Fuel Reward (CCFR).

    Make an application for a $1000 or $4000 Rebate

    Submit an application within 180 days after purchasing or renting a used EV to receive either the Standard Rebate or Rebate Plus

    REBATE PLUS OPTION

    Customers who satisfy the PG&E Pre-Owned EV Rebate program requirements and are income-qualified may be eligible for the Rebate Plus option of $4,000.

    If a candidate satisfies all other program requirements and certifies under Eligibility Scenario 1 or Scenario 2 below, they may be eligible for the Rebate Plus option. If an applicant receives a rebate for the Standard choice, the candidate might not use once again later on for the distinction in between the Standard alternative and the Rebate Plus choice, regardless of income certifications at the time of (or after) the initial application.

    If another person claims the applicant as a reliant (for the federal earnings tax year used to validate candidate income eligibility) the candidate is not eligible for the Rebate Plus choice, no matter the applicant's earnings or enrollment in a qualifying public assistance program. Vehicles signed up to a trust are not qualified for the Rebate Plus option.

    What files need to be submitted to get the Rebate Plus alternative?

    Eligibility Scenario 1: Enrollment in a Qualified Public Assistance Program

    A candidate might get approved for the Rebate Plus option if they took part in, and can supply proof of, enrollment for a minimum of one of these public support programs on the date the lorry was purchased or leased:

    - Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance
    - CalFresh/SNAP (food stamps).
    - CalWorks (TANF)/ Tribal TANF.
    - Drive Clean in the San Joaquin Replace Program *.
    - Bay Area Clean Cars for All **.
    - Head Start Income Eligible (tribal only).
  • Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
    - Medi-Cal (income-qualified Medi-Cal only).
    - Medi-Cal for Families (Healthy Families A&B).
    - Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
    - Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
    To qualify, the applicant's name need to match that of the individual registered in the qualified public support program and the proof of enrollment must be dated within 12 months of the application submission date. Applicants noted as a based on their proof of public support paperwork are not eligible for the Rebate Plus choice. If a candidate is under the age of 18, additional documents will be requested to confirm dependence status.

    * Applicants with applications and supporting documents submitted on or after June 13, 2023 might receive Rebate Plus by supplying their Drive Clean in the San Joaquin Replace Program approval letter that verifies their earnings is 80% or less of the Area Median Income (AMI) for the applicant's county.

    ** Applicants with applications and supporting files sent on or after May 22, 2025 might receive Rebate Plus by supplying their Bay Area Clean Cars for All Program approval letter.

    Eligibility Scenario 2: Income Verification

    If the applicant's home meets the annual gross income limits for their home size and the county in PG&E's service area where the candidate lived when the car was purchased or leased, the candidate may get approved for the Rebate Plus choice:

    Household size consists of the taxpayer( s) and any individuals who are declared as dependents on one federal tax return. A tax home might include a spouse and/or dependents. Individuals who live at the service address however who are not noted on the applicant's submitted tax return will not be consisted of in the "household size" for rebate functions.
    Household income is determined by evaluating IRS income tax return records.
